Minister of the Environment Hanif Faisol Nurofiq said that all the material was still stored in the warehouse of PT PMT (Peter Metal Technology), which has now been named a suspect in the cesium-137 case.
“To date, the contaminated material stored in PT PMT’s storage amounts to 1,136 tons, the condition is indeed very emergency,” said Hanif at the DPR RI Commission XII Working Meeting, Wednesday (3/12).

Therefore, he said that coordination from all parties still needs to be carried out so that contaminated material does not spread cesium to other objects.
“In the future, detailed planning is needed by Bapeten and BRIN in order to handle contaminated material which today we are placing in the PMT warehouse on the basis that this material comes from PT PMT,” he explained.
Hanif said that the implementation of decontamination at 12 points had been completed.However, there is one point that is still being explored because it is possible that this nuclear radio material is under the foundation of the building, so it still requires further study.
“If it is necessary, it seems like we inevitably have to replace the space so that we can tear it down if the cesium is in the foundation of the building which we cannot contaminate,” he said.
Apart from that, the KLH has also monitored all vehicles leaving Cikande since the incident via radiation portal monitoring (RPM).From this monitoring, 48 vehicles were found to be contaminated out of 1.71 million vehicles passing.

In the near future, the Ministry of Environment will take action against one house that cannot be handled because it is waiting for in-depth results.
“For the time being, the occupants of the house are being relocated while we receive an explanation from Bapeten and Brin regarding the position of the nuclear radio which is still in that position,” he stressed.
