The handling of 116 tonnes of rubbish was carried out after reports from residents about piles of rubbish piling up to the roof of the market building.
This condition creates a strong odor, disrupts the activities of traders and the public, and has the potential to pollute the surrounding environment.
Following up on this, KLH/BPLH immediately deployed joint officers from the South Tangerang City Environmental Service and the Market Service to carry out transportation from the evening until the following morning.
The waste transported comes from market activities and local community generation.Areas that were previously filled with piles are now starting to be cleared gradually.
As a follow-up step, KLH/BPLH hardened the location and prepared containers as temporary shelters (TPS).
Special trucks will also be placed in areas that have been cleaned to ensure that market waste is handled properly and does not pile up again.
In addition, KLH/BPLH requested the formation of task forces in locations prone to illegal dumping to consistently maintain market cleanliness.
It is known that the accumulation of rubbish in South Tangerang was triggered by the temporary closure of the Cipeucang TPA for around 10 days due to the restructuring and normalization of waste-covered waterways and rivers.
The arrangement process is expected to take up to one month. As a temporary solution, waste was diverted to 54 TPS3R with a capacity of 99 tons per day and two TPSTs with a capacity of 14 tons per day, so that waste services continued to run.
KLH/BPLH emphasized that handling Cimanggis Market waste is part of efforts to strengthen urban waste management that is responsive, collaborative and oriented towards protecting the health and environment of the community.
“We will oversee follow-up in the field and ensure waste management runs according to regulations, by involving local governments and the community,” said Hanif.
