) increasingly show the development of their weapons by showing off
submarine

North Korea’s news agency, Korea Central News Agency (KCNA) released photos of the submarine.
In one of the images, top leader Kim Jong Un is seen inspecting the ship in a room at a construction facility.A ship that is still in this position indicates that the unit is not yet operational.

“We consider super-powerful offensive capabilities to be the best shield for national security in developing armed forces,” the report said

quoted Kim’s statement.
Kim also emphasized how important the ships are to North Korea’s defense system.He even called the ship the strongest offensive weapon.
KCNA also reported that the ship’s displacement reached 8,700 tons, equivalent to the United States’ nuclear-powered Virginia-class attack submarine.
Experts say the photos released today show significant progress in North Korea’s weapons.
Hong Min, a senior researcher at the Korean National Unification Institute in Seoul, assessed that based on circulating images, the submarine may have been equipped with a nuclear reactor.This means that there are only a few stages left before it is ready to be launched.
“North Korea could conduct missile tests [with the submarine] after launching it in the next two years,” Hong was quoted as saying

Kim has long wanted to have a nuclear-powered submarine.This wetness even emerged during the Korean Workers’ Party Congress in 2021.
Apart from that, Kim also has the ambition to massively increase North Korea’s military strength.
This effort was seen when North Korea repeatedly produced missiles and carried out tests and released two new warships.
“[The construction of warships and vessels during] represents a leap forward in strengthening the combat capabilities of our fleet,” Kim said.
