who held the Kubro Alim Ulama Deliberation and NU Elders conveyed a strong appeal to the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (
PBNU
) to immediately carry out islah or restore the leadership mandate.
The Kubro deliberation was held this Sunday (21/12) at the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, East Java.This forum was attended by hundreds of kiai, masyayikh, and NU administrators from all over Indonesia, both in person and online.
At least 601 participants attended in person and 546 participants online, representing 308 PWNU and PCNU.

The older Kiai who attended included KH Anwar Manshur, KH Nurul Huda Djazuli, KH Ma’ruf Amin, KH Said Aqil Sirodj, KH Muhammad Nuh Addawami and KH Zaki Mubarok.There were also PBNU Syuriyah and Tanfidziyah ranks, leaders of central level autonomous institutions and bodies, Islamic boarding school administrators, as well as PWNU and PCNU representatives from all over Indonesia.
“The Kubro Deliberation Forum expresses its deep concern over the escalating internal conflict within the PBNU and the dynamics that accompany it, even though various ishlah efforts have been made through forums of NU members and elders, including deliberations at the Al-Falah Ploso Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, and the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School, Jombang,” said the Spokesperson for the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School, Kediri, East Java, KH Oing Abdul Muid orGus Muid.

.The senior kiai believe that this condition should not be allowed to drag on.
“Musyawarah Kubro views that the prolonged internal PBNU conflict has undermined the dignity and authority of Jam’iyyah Nahdlatul Ulama, and has significantly eroded the trust of the people and the public in NU.”
Through this forum, the ulama and NU elders firmly asked Rais ‘Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar and the General Chairperson of PBNU KH Yahya Cholil Staquf to immediately carry out islah seriously within the specified time limit, namely 3 times 24 hours.
“In order to maintain the integrity of Jam’iyyah and restore the honor of Nahdlatul Ulama, Musyawarah Kubro asked Rais ‘Aam and the General Chairperson of PBNU to perform ishlah seriously, no later than within 3×24 hours, starting from Sunday, December 21 2025 at 12.00 WIB,” he said.
If the agreement is not achieved within the deadline, Musyawarah Kubro requests that leadership authority be handed over to the PBNU Mustasyar ranks.This step is seen as a constitutional way to ensure the continuity of the organization.
“If the agreement cannot be implemented, Musyawarah Kubro asks both parties to hand over authority and trust to Mustasyar PBNU to organize the 2026 Nahdlatul Ulama Congress,” he said.
The forum is also preparing a final scenario if the mandate is not handed over to Mustasyar.Under these conditions, the senior kiai agreed to encourage the holding of the Extraordinary Congress (MLB) through NU’s structural support in the regions.
“If this authority is not handed over to Mustasyar, then the Kubro Conference agrees to organize MLB by raising support from 50 percent + 1 PWNU and PCNU,” he continued.
The MLB is planned to be held no later than before the departure of the first group of Hajj pilgrims in 2026. Meanwhile, the MLB committee is prepared by and from elements of the PWNU and PCNU, involving internal NU elements deemed necessary.
“May Allah SWT always provide protection, guidance and assistance to Nahdlatul Ulama,” concluded Gus Muid.
