case.Arif is considered to be trafficking in justice because he accepted bribes related to case management.
“The actions carried out by the defendant Muhammad Arif Nuryanta as described above are also commonly called case brokering or case brokering,” said judge Andi when reading out the considerations for the decision in a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Wednesday (3/12) evening.
The judge believes that Arif, who also served as deputy chairman of the Central Jakarta District Court, should uphold ethics, especially because the court he leads is a benchmark for justice in Indonesia.

“However, during the trial the legal facts were revealed that the defendant Muhammad Arif Nuryanta actually trafficked in justice, namely by repeatedly meeting with the litigants,” said the judge.
The meeting, he continued, was aimed at discussing giving money to influence the decision of the panel of judges. This action is considered to violate the code of ethics, judges’ behavioral guidelines and statutory regulations.
Arif is also said to have used his authority as head of the court to intervene with the panel of judges handling the case of three corporations related to the export of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) and its derivatives in January-April 2022.
“In this series of actions, the defendant Muhammad Arif Nuryanta received 2,500,000 United States dollars,” said the judge.
The money was given by Ariyanto, Marcella Santoso, Junaedi Saibih, and M. Syafe’i, advocates or parties representing the interests of corporate defendants Wilmar Group, Permata Hijau Group, and Musim Mas Group. The bribe funds were channeled through the North Jakarta District Court Junior Registrar, Wahyu Gunawan, before being distributed to a number of parties.
Due to this bribery practice, the panel of judges at the Jakarta Corruption Court consisting of Djuyamto, Agam Syarief Baharudin, and Ali Muhtarom then handed down a verdict of acquittal for the three corporations.
