deployed to an illegal gold mining location in Southeast Minahasa Regency (Mitra),
North Sulawesi
, after clashes that killed three people and one resident was shot.
“Joint personnel were deployed to secure the situation and are on standby at the location,” said Head of Public Relations of the North Sulawesi Regional Police, Commissioner Alamsyah P. Hasibuan in a written statement, Monday (22/12).
Alamsyah said that his party was still carrying out investigations and investigating the clash that caused casualties.

“The team is currently carrying out investigations and questioning a number of parties who are suspected of having knowledge of the events that occurred, which caused these fatalities,” he said.
Alamsyah asked the public to remain calm and not be provoked while waiting for the results of the police investigation.
“We appeal to members of the public to hand over this case to the police. The police will thoroughly investigate the perpetrators. We will continue to update the results of the investigation progress later,” he said.
Previously, the clash occurred on Saturday (20/12) at around 15.00 WITA, police officers who received the information immediately went to the location of the clash.
“We were on patrol while we received reports from residents regarding riots in the mining area. We immediately moved to the location because there were already reports of victims,” said Head of Mitra Police Samaptha, Iptu Ferry Salu.
Ferry admitted that he did not yet know the exact chronology and identity of the three residents who were found dead in the illegal mining area.
“The three victims have been found dead. Their identities are still being investigated,” he said.
Ferry said the perpetrators had fled when the police arrived at the location.
Furthermore, the three bodies were then taken to hospital for further examination.Meanwhile, officers are still investigating the cause of the chaos in the illegal mining area.
“Until now, we are still carrying out investigations. The victim has been evacuated to the hospital,” he said.
