covering an area of 16.4 hectares owned by the Kalla family in the Tanjung Bunga area, Tamalate District, Makassar, South Sulawesi, by a company affiliated with
Lippo
Group.
JK spokesperson, Husein Abdullah said the land was part of the development plan for a mixed used property area belonging to the Kalla Group.The process of preparing the land and installing project fences has started on September 27 2025.
However, according to Husein, this activity was disrupted by a group of people from PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development (GMTD), who were suspected of having ties to Lippo.

“Initially Mr. Kalla planned to build an integrated property area on that land. However, as the land preparation process was progressing, disturbances emerged from groups claiming to be from GMTD,” said Husein, Wednesday (13/11).
Husein explained that Kalla then received surprising information that the land had apparently been requested for execution by another party since August 13 2025.
“Later it was discovered that they had submitted a request for execution since August. In fact, a fake counter-argument was carried out on October 13 2025, without our knowledge or presence,” he said.
PT Hadji Kalla’s attorney, Hasman Usman also highlighted the land execution process carried out by GMTD.During the execution process, one of Lippo Group’s top officials, namely, Indra Yuwana and Maj. Gen. TNI (Ret.) Achmad Adipati Karna Widjaya, were present.
“We saw that there was a big irregularity. They came early in the morning at around 07.20, without official notification, then put up a sign as if the land belonged to them,” said Hasman.
The execution of the 16.4 hectare land belonging to PT Hadji Kalla, said Hasman, was carried out without the knowledge of the legal owner.
“This is what makes us very disappointed. The 16 hectare land has been owned by PT Hadji Kalla since 1996, bought directly from the community, has been certified, even guaranteed to the bank. This means that legally our ownership is valid,” he explained.
Hasman said that JK also regretted this action.This is because land belonging to PT Hadji Kalla is considered to be the object of execution without a clear legal basis.
“In fact, the court itself, through its public relations, stated that the land had never been executed. But in reality, the GMTD actually entered through the back by breaking into the wall, then read the execution letter outside our land area,” he said.
Hasman assessed that this action was a violation of the law and an abuse of authority.He asked the court and the National Land Agency (BPN) to step in and review the process taking place in the field.
“We hope that law enforcement will act fairly. This is not just a matter of companies, but a matter of truth and justice for legal land owners,” he concluded.
Lippo Group CEO James Riady admitted that Lippo has shares in a company that is currently in a land dispute with the 10th and 12th President Jusuf Kalla (JK).
James said Lippo does have shares in PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development (GMTD).However, he said GMTD is a public company.
“The land is owned by a local government company in the area called PT GMTD, which is a public company, where Lippo is one of the shareholders,” said James when met at the Wisma Mandiri 2 Building, Jakarta, Monday (10/11).
Even so, he denied Lippo’s involvement in the land dispute which made Jusuf Kalla angry.James said his company did not own the land.
“The land is not owned by Lippo. So it has nothing to do with Lippo. So we have no comment,” he said.
PT GMTD is a subsidiary of PT Lippo Karawaci Tbk.Based on the financial report for the second quarter of 2025, the issuer coded LPKR indirectly owns 57.7 percent of PT GMTD’s shares.Lippo Karawaci is also recorded as owning 100 percent of the shares of PT Makassar Permata Sulawesi which directly narrows the 32.5 percent shares of PT GMTD.
