The recording went viral on social media and became a topic of discussion among Indonesian netizens.

In the video, several students can be seen taking the t-shirts and putting them in their respective bags without paying.
Nyoman Jonathan’s shop seller estimates that 20 items have disappeared without transactions.

Responding to the viral video, the principals of junior and senior high schools in Kyoto Prefecture, Otani Junior and Senior High School, confirmed that several of their students stole shop items during a study tour in Bali on November 30-December 5.
“On December 4, it was confirmed that several students who participated in our school study tour had committed acts of theft at their destination,” said Fumio, in an official release.
Fumio then said the incident was not only a matter that required great consideration for the victims, but also a serious act that had the potential to affect Japanese citizens abroad.
He then expressed his sincere apologies to all parties affected by the incident.
“We extend our deepest apologies to the affected shops, the local community and local stakeholders for the inconvenience and worry caused,” said Fumio.
Furthermore, Fumio said the school realized how necessary it was to review and seriously the way it guides its students.
