to its citizens not to travel to Japan, as a result of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi’s remarks regarding Taiwan.
According to Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary, Minoru Kihara, China’s appeal asking its citizens not to visit Japan is proof that Beijing is going back on its own words.

“They are inconsistent with efforts to promote strategic and mutually beneficial relations,” said Kihara, as reported by local media, Jiji Press, and reported by AFP on Saturday (15/11).
“The Japanese government has asked the Chinese side to take appropriate steps,” he continued.
Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi last week said an armed attack on Taiwan could be a reason for Japan to deploy troops for collective defense.
On Friday (14/11) evening Chinese time, the Chinese Embassy in Japan warned its citizens regarding travel to the Land of Sakura.For China, Takaichi’s remarks were a provocation.
“Recently, Japanese leaders have made openly provocative statements regarding Taiwan, which have seriously damaged the atmosphere of communication between people,” the WeChat post said as quoted by AFP.
The message stated that there was a significant risk to the personal safety and lives of Chinese citizens in Japan.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese embassies and consulates in Japan solemnly remind Chinese citizens to avoid traveling to Japan in the near future,” they said.
As a result of this appeal, a number of China’s largest airlines are offering full refunds for flights on Japan routes before the end of the year.
Air China, China Southern and China Eastern all published separate statements about the policy, which will allow ticket holders to refund or change their Japan itinerary free of charge for flights from November 15 to December 31, 2025.
China also asked Takaichi to withdraw his remarks which he considered baseless.But Takaichi was reluctant to do so.According to the woman who is known as a supporter of Taiwan and is tough on China, her statement is in accordance with Japanese principles.
Meanwhile, China is increasingly aggressive in intimidating Taiwan.China claims Taiwan is a dissident because it wants to separate itself from China.
