Happy to be back with the national team and being captain for the first time
U-23 Indonesian National Team
defeated 0-3 to Mali in a trial match at Pakansari Stadium, Bogor Regency, Saturday (15/11).
This is Ivar’s first appearance after five months away from playing for the national team, especially for the senior team.Even though he’s not returning for the senior team, this match is still special for Ivar because coach Indra Sjafri has appointed him as team captain. “Yes, that’s very good. It feels very good for me as a player and also shows the trust of the coach and staff,” said Ivar in the mixed zone of the Pakansari Stadium.

“I was injured so I couldn’t take part in FIFA Match Day in October, and I’m very happy to be back in Indonesia and I love all the fans.
Mali beat Indonesia 3-0 thanks to goals from Dan Sinate, Wilson Samake and Moulaye Haidara.
Ivar, who last defended the Patrick Kluivert era national team in the last two matches of the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications in the Asian zone in June, is optimistic that the Indonesian U-23 National Team will achieve the desired results in the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, early December.
The team coached by Indra Sjafri has never won in three trial matches.However, Ivar believes this is part of the team’s process to continue to develop.
“I think our game was not bad.We could have created some good chances.”The next step is to score goals,” said Ivar, who wants to play in the SEA Games even though this event is not included in the FIFA international calendar.
“I think we could have scored three goals that shouldn’t have been wasted.But overall, I think it was a good match,” he added.
