In early November, Minister of Settlement Affairs Orit Strock, head of the Ramat Negev regional council, and officials from the Ministry of Settlement Affairs visited the area around the Nitzana Crossing. They are said to have discussed population growth and development programs that strengthen Israel’s presence along the border.
Analysts say the plan is in line with the policy of expanding residential activities under the pretext of security. This strategy is called Soft Judaization, namely taking advantage of the growth of settlements to strengthen Israeli control.
Experts also warn the plan could change the demographic and security landscape of the border region by building what Israeli officials call a “human wall.”
Israel annexed the West Bank, Palestine from 1948 until today. They continue to build settlements there illegally.
Last August, Israel approved plans to expand its occupation of the West Bank by building 3,401 housing units, known as the E1 project. The plan saw the area divided into two.
This development will later connect Jerusalem to the Maale Adumim settlement. This project also makes the future of the Palestinian capital, which has been touted, impossible to achieve.Furthermore, the establishment of the Palestinian State is increasingly being eroded.
