The Indonesian canoe team was surprised to win a gold medal in
SEA Games 2025
in the Mixed Canoe Four 500 meter number after being left behind at the start of the race.
The team strengthened by Stevani Maysche Ibo, Indra Hidayat, Ramla Baharuddin, and Subhi recorded a time of 1.37.916 seconds in the match at the Royal Thai Navy Canoe and Rowing Training Center, Chonburi.
“At first we didn’t expect to win a gold medal. From the start we were behind, but as a team we remained optimistic,” said Stevani in a release received by hitclubapk3Indonesia.

The competition was very fierce.Indonesia was left behind in the first 250 meters, but Indra Hidayat and his colleagues remained calm, maintained their tempo and slowly increased their speed until they reached the finish line.
“From the start, our tempo was good. Even though we were behind, we remained calm. Then we made a transition in the middle of the race,” explained Indra Hidayat.
“Singapore and Thailand attacked in the last 250 meters, but we still waited for momentum. We attacked in the last 200 meters and increased speed in the 100 meters. That was all part of today’s strategy,” he added.
The team, which has been formed for one year, has used this gold achievement as valuable capital to face the 2026 Asian Beach Games and 2026 Asian Games.
“We want to improve our discipline and competition flying hours. Our highest goal is the Olympics,” concluded Indra.
Currently, Indonesia has won a total of 18 medals, four of which ended in gold.The other three gold medals came from taekwondo, petanque and men’s team badminton.
