The surge came after the Delaware Supreme Court reinstated Tesla’s US$139 billion stock option package that was previously voided.

Based on the Forbes billionaire index, Musk’s wealth surge occurred on Friday (19/12).The stock options were part of Musk’s 2018 compensation package which was originally worth US$56 billion.
Reporting from Reuters on Sunday (21/12), the salary package was restored two years after a lower court overturned it and called the compensation scheme unreasonable.
The Delaware Supreme Court said a 2024 ruling that voided the pay package was inappropriate and unfair to Musk.
Earlier this week, Musk also set a record as the first person in the world to have a fortune of more than US$600 billion.This increase was triggered by reports that his space company, SpaceX, had the opportunity to be listed on the stock exchange.
Last November, Tesla shareholders separately approved Musk’s US$1 trillion pay package.The package is said to be the largest corporate compensation in history.
Forbes noted that Musk’s wealth now surpasses Google founder Larry Page, who is in second place in the world’s richest person, by a difference of almost US$500 billion.
