A total of 109 residents were displaced as a result
fire
which hit densely populated residential areas on Jalan Karya Dalam, RT 013 RW 002, Wijaya Kusuma Village, Grogol Petamburan District, West Jakarta (

), on Monday (22/12) evening.
Head of the DKI Jakarta BPBD Data and Information Center (Kapusdatin), Mohamad Yohan, said that the fire which occurred at 19.33 WIB destroyed at least seven residential houses and one boarding house building.
“A total of seven residential houses were affected, one boarding house. The affected residents were 35 families (heads of families) with 109 people who had to evacuate,” said Yohan quoting

The fire victims have also been evacuated to two evacuation locations prepared by joint officers.
“There is emergency tent assistance from BPBD and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Social Service which has also been set up around the location. Another evacuation point is at the Al Muttaqiin Mosque,” said Yohan.
The fire, which started at 19.33 WIB, was completely extinguished before midnight, after officers struggled for almost four hours.
“The blackout was completed on Monday, December 22 2025, at 20.30, cooling was completed at 23.12 WIB,” said Yohan.
To extinguish the fire, 20 fire trucks with 100 personnel from the local Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) were dispatched to the location.
Based on temporary data collected by BPBD and Gulkarmat in the field, the fire is strongly suspected to have been triggered by a disturbance in the electrical installation.
“The cause of the fire is not yet certain. However, it is suspected that there was an electrical short circuit,” said Yohan.
Seen at the location on Monday (22/12) evening, flames accompanied by black smoke rose so high from the fire location that it could be seen from a distance.
The large number of building materials made of wood and the density of residential areas meant that fire spread quickly from one building to another.
West Jakarta Fire Department officers who arrived at the location immediately tried to extinguish it to prevent wider spread.
Local residents did not remain silent.They also tried to help fire crews put out the fire with whatever equipment they could.
