Inspector General of the North Sumatra Police, Police Commissioner Nanang Masbudhi, said that the North Sumatra Police had moved to follow up on information that went viral on one of the social media accounts regarding alleged abuse of authority by the North Sumatra Police Propam.
“As a form of commitment to professionalism, transparency and accountability, the North Sumatra Police Chief ordered the formation of an audit team with the specific aim of carrying out comprehensive clarification and verification,” he said in Medan, Monday (24/11).

He said this step was part of the internal monitoring function carried out by the North Sumatra Regional Police’s ITwasda, to ensure that any information circulating was handled openly and responsibly.
“The audit team was led by the North Sumatra Regional Police Inspector General TK. III, Police Commissioner Fahmudin, who was tasked with researching, clarifying and verifying all the material in the account upload,” he said.
Nanang said that currently several parties have been questioned.The audit process is ongoing, and complete results will be submitted after the entire series of inspections is completed.
“The North Sumatra Police also ensure that the audit process takes place objectively and independently, without intervention and without taking hasty steps,” he explained.
Regarding the status of the North Sumatra Police Head of Propam and the North Sumatra Police Propam Subdivision Head mentioned in the viral video, the North Sumatra Police stated that there had been no temporary removal, because all the material was still in the stage of in-depth clarification.
“We must first ensure the veracity of the information. Our principle is clear that every process must be based on data and facts, not speculation,” he stressed.
The North Sumatra Regional Police, he added, also opened a space for clarification to the party who manages the social media account as part of the verification process.To date, no additional reports or complaints have been received from the National Police reform team regarding this issue.
“We will implement the recommendations from this audit fully in accordance with the provisions. We want to ensure that the handling of this issue is carried out in a clear, accountable and accountable manner to the public,” he stressed.
