Head of the National Nutrition Agency, Dadan Hindayana, said that as many as 50.4 million Indonesians had received the benefits of the largest Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) program in 38 provinces, in 509 districts, in 7,022 sub-districts.
Dadan explained that the target beneficiary for the MBG program is 82.9 million people and to date 17,817 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) have been formed.
“The target beneficiary for this program is generally 82.9 million. And thank God, to date, 17,817 Nutrition Fulfillment Service Units have been formed,” said Dadan at the hitclubapk3 Indonesia Leadership Forum – Nutritious Eating for the Rights of Indonesian Children, Thursday (18/12).

Dadan said that the target beneficiaries of the MBG program were pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, children under five, then all school children from preschool to high school. This includes Islamic boarding schools and other religious schools.
“This is important for us to do, there are two important points in life. The first important point is a thousand times, a thousand days of life. Therefore we comb pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers, toddlers. This is to prevent stunting and produce maximum brain development so that they are born with above average intelligence,” said Dadan.
He said nutritional intervention is not only important in the first thousand days but also in the growth phase of children aged eight to 18 years to support optimal physical growth.
“And because of that, it is hoped that this program can produce smart future generations of Indonesians because we intervened in the first thousand days,” said Dadan.
Furthermore, Dadan revealed that the MBG program is packaged in a service ecosystem that is run through the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG), where each service unit serves up to 3,000 people.
“So then the Nutritious Eating program is packaged in an ecosystem where implementation is carried out in nutritional fulfillment service units. Where each service unit then serves between 2,000 and 3,000 people,” he said.
He explained that the service unit was placed in the middle of the community with a maximum delivery radius of 30 minutes. The service distance is around six kilometers in rural areas and four kilometers in urban areas.
“And we also intervene in isolated remote areas, which cannot be delivered within 30 minutes from the surrounding area,” he said.
“So we will also build remote SPPGs, even though there may only be 200-300 served there, we will be present there,” Dadan added.
