–the route connecting Padang-Bukittinggi, West Sumatra–which was completely cut off due to flash floods at the end of November, has begun trials to reopen this Monday (8/12).
The use of the main Padang-Bukittinggi access route is being carried out in stages, and currently it can only be used by motorbikes.
West Sumatra Regional Police Traffic Director, Muhammad Reza Chairul Akbar Sidiq, said that the road starts to be used at 06.00 WIB until 08.00 WIB, then continues at 16.30 WIB and 18.30 WIB.

“That’s right, the road is open starting today. Testing phase, only for motorbikes. Testing for 3 days first,” said Reza when confirmed

He said that currently the route was only open for two sessions, each lasting two hours.After that, the road was closed again so workers could continue the repair process.
“We ask people who use this route to remain careful and follow the instructions of the relevant officers,” reza appealed.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of Commission VI DPR RI, Andre Rosiade, said that the Anai Valley route is expected to return to normal in June 2026.
“We have seen the conditions in the Anai Valley. We have agreed with the Regional Police and the Road Hall that this route can be temporarily opened for motorbike needs first,” Andre told reporters.
According to him, the road should have been tested since yesterday, but had to be postponed due to weather conditions.
“It should have been opened yesterday afternoon, but due to weather conditions it had to be postponed today. Only for motorbikes, God willing, four-wheeled vehicles will be available in the next few days,” he said.
He explained that from the road center’s report, the route could be completely normal by July next year.
“Currently the center and Hutama Karya are still carrying out work. When will it be permanent? It is estimated to be July 2026,” he explained.
The Anai Valley route is the main route connecting Padang to Bukittinggi to Pekanbaru Riau.This road collapsed and was completely cut off due to the flash flood that occurred at the end of November 2025.
Apart from causing the road to collapse, the disaster also caused landslides in the border area of Padang Panjang City.Dozens of people were buried, most of whom are still in the process of being searched.
