Before The Wedding Date, Meghan and Harry were also reported to be producing the film Meet Me at the Lake, an adaptation of the romantic novel by Carley Fortune. However, the film has reportedly not yet determined a director or cast.
The news of this new project emerged amidst news that Harry and Meghan’s contract with Netflix would end this year, but it was finally continued even though it was not as exclusive as the previous multi-year one.
Markle and Harry signed a contract with Netflix in 2020 worth US$100 million. They did this after almost nine months of stepping down as members of the royal family.
The couple have since teamed up with Netflix to produce a number of projects, including Harry & Meghan (2020), which became Netflix’s most-watched and most-watched documentary debut.
They also produce documentaries, series, films, sports, and lifestyle programs including Live to Lead (2022), Heart of Invictus (2023), Polo (2024), and Love, Meghan which has two seasons and one holiday special.
In 2025, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry co-released the Masaka Kids project, A Rhythm Within.
Now, their production house, Archewell Productions, has agreed to a new deal with Netflix, albeit with lower fees. This agreement is considered different because the current collaboration is not as exclusive as before.
Initially, Netflix held exclusive rights to all Harry and Meghan Markle’s works or productions through Archewell Productions.
Now, everything is just a first-look deal, which means Netflix has the right to approve or reject a project before Archewell Productions offers it to another studio.
