warned the ceasefire would fail after a series of deadly attacks

A senior Hamas official said he had told mediators about anger over continued Israeli attacks on Gaza even though the group adhered to a US-brokered ceasefire.

“We ask the mediators to immediately intervene to prevent the failure of the agreement as desired by the occupation,” said the official, whose name was changed, quoted from
Al Jazeera
.
In a statement, the group added: “Zionist systematic violations of the agreement have resulted in hundreds of people being martyred due to continuous attacks and killings under fabricated pretexts. These violations have also led to changes in the line of withdrawal of the occupying forces, which violates the agreed map.”
Israeli airstrikes hit several areas of the Gaza Strip, killing at least 21 Palestinians and wounding dozens more in the latest violation of a six-week ceasefire.
Meanwhile the Israeli military said it had killed or captured more than a dozen Palestinian gunmen trapped in a tunnel under the city of Rafah, in the Israeli-occupied territory.
“Moments ago, troops operating in eastern Rafah discovered and captured another terrorist who was attempting to escape from the underground terror infrastructure in the Rafah area,” the military said in a statement.
“At the end of the 24-hour pursuit, all 17 terrorists who attempted to escape from the underground terror infrastructure in eastern Rafah were successfully eliminated or captured,” he continued.
This Israeli attack was carried out while the ceasefire agreement was in effect.Israel has continued to fire shots and air strikes, killing hundreds of people since October.
According to Palestinian health authorities, more than 300 people have died as a result of Israeli attacks on Gaza since the ceasefire took effect last October.
UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric’s spokesman has expressed concern over the fragility of the ceasefire in Gaza.
