reiterated that he would not resign from his position as general chairman.
He conveyed this regarding the minutes of the daily PBNU Syariah meeting which asked him to resign as Chairman of the PBNU within three days of receiving the minutes.If he does not resign within that deadline, Syariah will dismiss him.
Yahya said that the PBNU Syuriyah daily meeting had no right to dismiss mandataries.

“Syria daily meetings do not have
legal standing
“Because the daily Shariah meeting has no right, no right to dismiss mandataries, that’s the problem,” said Yahya after the Alim Ulama Gathering at the PBNU Office, Sunday (23/11).
He explained that the daily Syariah meeting was binding on all Syariah ranks, not for administrators outside Syariah ranks.Yahya said that the daily Syariah meeting could not even dismiss institutional administrators, let alone mandataries.Therefore, the minutes of the syariah meeting cannot be executed.
“So what was the decision of the daily Syariah meeting a few days ago, it cannot be executed, it cannot be binding, and there will be no end to it, there is only a commotion with no clear direction,” he said.
According to him, at the meeting held, the kiai regretted what had happened to the daily Sharia meeting and the minutes of the meeting.
“Everyone wants everything that is a problem in the organization to be returned to the AD/ART, returned to the existing regulatory system and even though there are shortcomings, the obstacles must be resolved together without developing conflict between the existing leadership,” said Yahya.
He said that a greater friendship between the kiai would be held at the Lirboyo Islamic Boarding School in the near future.Yahya hopes that the meeting can open a way out of the internal conflict in PBNU.
“God willing, a wider meeting will be held later by presenting more senior kiai and also leadership elements within Nahdlatul Ulama who will

by the Lirboyo Islamic boarding school in Kediri,” he said.
Friendship agreement between Muslim scholars
The Gathering of Muslim Scholars held by PBNU without the presence of Rais Aam and PBNU Secretary General Gus Ipul agreed that the management of PBNU should be completed for one period and there would be no impeachment of the General Chair.
PBNU Katib Aam Ahmad Said Asrori explained that there were three points of agreement from the friendship.First, the kiai who were present agreed that there would be greater friendship between the kiai and ulama.
“All the kiai, all suggested that there should be greater friendship between the alims, the kiai. So how come we have become public consumption, there is a problem,” said Said at the PBNU office.
Second, the kiai who were present were said to have agreed that the management of PBNU would be completed in one period until the next congress next year.
“We agreed that the PBNU management must be completed by a period with a final meeting in approximately one year. Everyone, no impeachment, no resignation, everyone agreed,” he said.
Third, the kiai who were present were said to have agreed to ask all parties to meditate for the common good.
“So once again, there are no resignations and no forced resignations. Nothing. I emphasize this once again, nothing. Everything must be, everything is the daily management of PBNU from Rais Aam to the ranks, the General Chair and the full ranks until the upcoming Congress,” said Said.
Previously, minutes of PBNU’s daily Syuriah meeting circulated deciding that Yahya Cholil Staquf had to resign as Chairman of PBNU within three days of receiving the minutes.If he does not resign within that deadline, Syariah will dismiss him.
The minutes were signed by Rais Aam PBNU Miftachul Akhyar, decided at a meeting attended by 37 Syariah Daily Administrators at the Aston City Hotel Jakarta on November 20 2025.
“Deliberations between Rais Aam and two Deputy Rais Aam decided: KH Yahya Cholil Staquf must resign from the position of General Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board within 3 (three) days from the receipt of the decision of the PBNU Syuriyah Daily Meeting,” wrote the decision points in the minutes.
“If he does not resign within 3 (three) days, the PBNU Syuriyah Daily Meeting decides to dismiss KH Yahya Cholil Staquf as General Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board,” he continued.
Based on the minutes, the call for resignation was related to the invitation of speakers from the international Zionist network at the Nahdlatul Ulama National Leadership Academy (AKN NU) which was deemed to violate the values and teachings of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah An Nahdliyah and was contrary to the Muqaddimah Qanun Asasi Nahdlatul Ulama.
