Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya
responding to the Syuriyah plan of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (
PBNU
) held a Plenary Meeting next week.
Gus Yahya stated that the plenary meeting could not be considered valid because the plenary could only be held if it involved Rais Aam and the General Chairperson of Tanfidziyah.

“Including maybe a day or two ago there was an invitation circulating for a Plenary Meeting. This also cannot be considered valid because the Plenary can only be held if it is jointly chaired by Rais Aam and the General Chair,” said Gus Yahya at a press conference, Jakarta, Wednesday (3/12).
Gus Yahya also emphasized that until now he still sits as Chairman of PBNU.
He who was elected as Chairman of the PBNU was a mandate member of the 34th Congress in Lampung in 2021 and can only be replaced through the Congress.
“Well, therefore, the statement that was said to be the result of the Syuriyah Daily Meeting regarding my position is unacceptable and null and void, yes, because it is outside the authority of the Syuriyah Daily Meeting itself,” he said.
The plenary meeting was one of the points in the PBNU Rais Aam friendship with the PBNU Syuriah and 36 PWNU which was held at the East Java PWNU office, Surabaya, last Saturday (29/11).
“That to ensure the normal running of the organization, a plenary meeting or congress will be held soon,” read one of the meeting points.
The plan for the plenary meeting was confirmed by PBNU Chairman Ahmad Fahrur Rozi alias Gus Fahrur who said the plan was for the plenary meeting to be held on December 9 next week.
“The 9th,” said Gus Fahrur via short message.
