He conveyed this while at the same time rejecting the results of the PBNU Syuriyah plenary meeting which appointed Zulfa Mustofa as Acting General Chairperson of PBNU for the remaining term of office until the 2026 Congress.
“Yes, it has been discussed from the start that the daily Syuriyah meeting does not have the authority to dismiss mandataries, in this case I am the general chairman,” said Gus Yahya after an audience with the National Police Reform Acceleration Committee at the State Secretariat Building, Jakarta, Wednesday (10/12).

Gus Yahya said that he could be dismissed as Chairman of the PBNU only through the organization’s highest deliberative forum, namely the Muktamar.
“Everywhere, no organizational mandate can be dismissed outside of the highest deliberation,” he said.
PBNU is currently experiencing internal conflict.It all started after Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar recommended Gus Yahya resign from the position of general chairman.
This decision was the result of the PBNU’s daily Syuriyah meeting at the Aston Hotel, Jakarta, on Thursday 20 November.At the meeting, 37 members of the 53 Syuriyah PBNU daily administrators were present.
Yesterday, Syuriyah PBNU held a plenary meeting at the Sultan Hotel Jakarta on Tuesday (9/12) evening.The meeting was chaired by Rais Syuriyah PBNU Muhammad Nuh on the mandate of Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar.
The plenary decided Zulfa Mustofa as Acting General Chair of PBNU for the remaining term of office until the 2026 Congress.
“The appointment of the Acting General Chairperson of PBNU for the remaining term of service, namely Mr. KH Zulfa Mustofa,” said Rais Syuriah Muhammad Nuh in a press conference after the plenary meeting at the Sultan Hotel.
The plenary was also attended by a number of kiai such as Deputy Rais Aam KH Afifuddin Muhajir and KH Anwar Iskandar, Nasaruddin Umar, Khofifah Indar Parawansa, and Gus Ipul.
