) Saifullah Yusuf (Gus Ipul) opened his voice regarding the ongoing issue of impeachment of General Chairman (Ketum) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf or Gus Yahya.He asked all elements of the NU management to calmly respond to this matter.
The issue of impeachment was revealed through the document circulating in the minutes of the PBNU Syuriyah Daily Meeting dated November 20 2025.
The document was signed by Rais Aam PBNU KH Miftachul Akhyar, but there has been no confirmation from the person concerned regarding its validity.

Responding to this dynamic, Gus Ipul appealed to all NU administrators at all levels, from PBNU, PWNU, PCNU, MWCNU to NU Branches to remain calm and maintain a conducive atmosphere.
Gus Ipul emphasized that what is happening now is an ordinary organizational matter which is being handled by the PBNU Syariah ranks in accordance with the applicable internal mechanisms.
“This is an ongoing organizational dynamic. I ask all NU administrators and residents to remain calm, not to be carried away by misleading news, and not to increase misunderstandings,” said Gus Ipul, through an official statement distributed by his special staff, Friday (21/11).
He asked all NU administrators at various levels to continue to consolidate, maintain brotherhood, and refrain from steps or statements that could worsen the situation.
“Follow all developments only through official information conveyed by PBNU Syariah officials. Don’t be influenced by news whose source is unclear,” he stressed.
The Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs added that the entire organizational process is currently in the hands of the highest authority in the PBNU structure, namely the PBNU Syuriah ranks led by Rais Aam and two Rais Aam representatives.

“Everything will be resolved well, proportionally, and in accordance with organizational etiquette,” he said.
Gus Ipul also invited all Nahdlatul Ulama residents to increase their prayers and maintain peace of mind.He ensured that PBNU’s internal dynamics would be resolved through legal and careful organizational mechanisms.

The issue of Gus Yahya’s impeachment arose after the circulation of the PBNU Syuriyah Daily Meeting Minutes document dated November 20 2025, which was signed by PBNU Rais Aam KH Miftachul Akhyar.
The minutes document contains the decisions of a meeting held by the PBNU management at the Aston City Hotel, Jakarta, 20 November 2025, 17.00-20.00 WIB.
There are five important points in the meeting’s decision, one of which is the decision resulting from deliberations that Rais Aam and two representatives of Rais Aam that KH Yahya Cholil Staquf must resign from the position of General Chair of PBNU within 3 days from the receipt of the decision of the PBNU Syuriyah daily meeting.
“If he does not resign within 3 days, the PBNU Syuriyah meeting decides to dismiss KH Yahya Cholil Staquf from the position of General Chair of PBNU,” the minutes document said.
