Alissa Wahid as Chief Executive of Haul Gus Dur said that this moment would not be just a ceremony and tahlil.
The eldest daughter of the late Gus Dur said that this year’s haul had the theme of the people, by the people, for the people.
He said the haul activities held this weekend would be a momentum for national reflection.
“Why? Yes, because we see that in Indonesia currently, the life of our nation and state is a space for its people that is becoming increasingly marginalized. It is not the center of policy, it is not the actors involved,” said Alissa at the location, Saturday (20/12).
He said that critical people were often silenced and even experienced repression.
Alissa said that the Indonesian people were increasingly losing space for them to speak out.
“Well, this is what we want to raise tonight, the message is for 4 groups. The first is to the state, the second is to the political elite, and the third is specifically for NU as a leader of civil society, and the last is a message for the people themselves,” he said.
Alissa also said that this haul event would also hold several tausiahs.Those who will give tausiah are Gus Dur’s wife, Shinta Nuriyah.Then he will also give a sermon, including Rais Syuriyah PWNU Central Java Ubaidullah Shodaqoh.
Finally, Mahfud MD, former minister Gus Dur, is now part of the National Police Reform Acceleration Commission.
“We ask for knowledge from Mrs. Sinta Nuriyah, not as Gus Dur’s wife, not for a speech, but as the Mother of the Nation, as Chair of the National Conscience Movement, and also as an independent fighter,” he said.
