When he was a guest star on the Jimmy Kimmel Live program which aired on Wednesday (5/11), the director of Frankenstein admitted that he heard sounds like a murder scene while staying at the hotel in New Zealand.
“I was watching Stringer Bell [in the series The Wire], and suddenly I heard the whole murder scene in the middle of the room. There were screams, stabbing sounds and crying,” said the 61-year-old Mexican.
“There was no one in the hotel, not even the manager,” he explained, as reported
Entertainment Weekly
on Thursday (6/11).
However, if most people would get scared and move rooms, Guillermo del Toro chose to stay even though he was also worried about experiencing an apparition.
“I put my earphones back in and stared at the computer screen all night,” said del Toro.”I’m not sleeping at all. I don’t want to turn around, what if I turn around and there’s something there?”
Guillermo del Toro really likes horror.Apart from deliberately renting a haunted room when staying at a hotel, he also plans to buy a haunted house in England.
Not just this time, del Toro admitted that he had experienced the same incident while filming the film Frankenstein at a haunted hotel in Aberdeen, Scotland.
“Every time I stay at a hotel, I always know which room is haunted. I always say, ‘can you give me the haunted room?’,” said del Toro.
“My instructions to the property agent were only one thing: the house had to be haunted,” he said.”I also said, ‘I have to be able to stay there and be disturbed by ghosts – otherwise I wouldn’t buy it.’
