won the second gold for Indonesia in
Asian Youth Para Games
(AYPG) 2025 while breaking the Asian record.
The lifter, who is usually called Adel, appeared in the women’s -79 kilogram rookie category and managed to lift a weight weighing 88 kilograms.
Adel, who was surrounded by athletes from Uzbekistan, managed without difficulty to record the heaviest lift since the first opportunity in the match which took place at the Dubai Club For People of Determination, Thursday (11/12).Adel opened the match with a lift of 80 kilograms.

Then on the second occasion, Adel tried to break the Asian record for the -79 kilograms for women in the rookie category which was recorded as weighing 85 kilograms.Adel broke the record with a lift weighing 86 kilograms.
Adel tried to break the record again on the third occasion.Adel also succeeded in setting a new record with a lift weighing 88 kilograms.
“Actually, I didn’t expect to win the gold medal because the opponents were tough. Thank God, I was able to present the gold medal to Indonesia,” said Adel after the match.
“I’m happy because this is the gold medal I’ve always dreamed of. It turns out that the training I’ve been through since before joining Pelatnas was not in vain, I was able to win a gold medal in Dubai,” he said, quoted from a National Paralympic Committee (NPC) release.
Adel also revealed the support from his family who are also involved in the world of weightlifting.One of Adel’s older brothers is still active in his career representing Bandung Regency.
“Before the match, I called my family, asking for prayers so that I could win the gold medal and finally it was achieved,” said the student from SMP 1 Pasundan Bandung.
“I’ve been training with my older brother for a long time. I had the thought ‘well, just give up, I won’t get to a higher phase’, but in the end I was able to get a gold medal here [Dubai],” explained this student from SMP 1 Pasundan Bandung.
The Indonesian weightlifting team has won one gold and three silver.This achievement exceeded the target of one silver and one bronze.
Three silver medals were won by Imam Nur Shaleh (-54 kilograms for men in the rookie category), Putri Sri Rahayu Lase (-55 kilograms for women in the next gen category) and Rintan Dyah Saputri (-61 kilograms for women in the rookie category).
Weightlifting coach Coni Ruswanta welcomed the results of his team who were nervous behind the stage.He is also optimistic that he can win medals again in the next competition events.
