express deep condolences to the
victims of flash floods and landslides
which hit a number of areas of North Sumatra (North Sumatra).
Gibran said the central government would help deal with the flash flood and landslide disasters so that things could quickly return to normal.
“I would like to express my deep condolences to the disaster victims. The vice minister (deputy minister) and I were asked by the President to speed up the handling of this disaster,” said Gibran at the Batu Hula Village Disaster Emergency Post, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra, Thursday (4/12).

Gibran was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Bima Arya Sugiarto and Deputy Governor of North Sumatra Surya when visiting disaster victims.
The son of the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) promised that public facilities destroyed by flash floods and landslides in the North Sumatra region would soon be repaired.
Data from the North Sumatra Province Regional Disaster Management Agency as of Wednesday (3/12), stated that 307 victims had died, 167 victims were missing, and 41,952 victims were still displaced.
The North Sumatra Province BPBD said that floods, flash floods and landslides had hit 17 districts/cities in North Sumatra, namely North Tapanuli, Central Tapanuli, South Tapanuli and Sibolga.
Then, Humbang Haunjungan, Padangsidempuan, Pakpak Bharat, Mandailing Natal, Medan, Binjai, Langkat, Deli Serdang, Nias, Tebing Tinggi, Serdang Bedagai, Asahan, and Batu Bara.
“I ask the district government to ensure that the aid and refugee posts can run well,” said Gibran.
Gibran directly inspected two flash flood and landslide disaster locations in Batang Toru District, South Tapanuli Regency, North Sumatra.
Gibran greeted refugees at the Batu Hula Village Disaster Emergency Post, Batang Toru, and inspected damaged roads and bridges in Garoga Village, Batang Toru, South Tapanuli.
The Batu Hula Village Disaster Emergency Post is the largest refugee camp in Batang Toru with around 1,300 people from five villages in the sub-district residing temporarily at this post.
Gibran also handed over aid, such as food, children’s toys and other necessities for the refugees.
