During the meeting, the two leaders discussed efforts to strengthen economic relations through optimizing cooperation between the Indonesia-European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (I-EU CEPA).

Apart from that, they also discussed a number of other strategic issues ranging from strengthening downstream industrial cooperation, defense industrial cooperation, to deepening political partnerships.
Gibran emphasized that Indonesia is committed to developing downstreaming as a national strategy to increase added value and strengthen industrial competitiveness.
“Indonesia is ready to expand its strategic partnership with Germany, especially in developing value-added industries and increasing national production capacity,” said Gibran, quoting his statement, Monday (24/11).
Meanwhile, Deputy Chancellor Lars Klingbeil emphasized Germany’s commitment to deepening cooperation with Indonesia as a major partner in the Indo-Pacific, including strengthening regional stability and expanding economic relations.
He also agreed that I-EU CEPA is an important instrument for opening up wider trade and investment opportunities, including for priority sectors such as renewable energy, industrial technology and defense.
This meeting was also said to be an important momentum to strengthen Indonesia-Germany relations, especially in the industrial, political and economic fields.
This meeting confirmed the commitment of both countries to strengthen strategic relations and build mutually beneficial cooperation.
