President Director of PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) Bobby Rasyidin said that of the 3.5 million seats provided for the Christmas holiday period, 86 percent had been sold.
“86 percent of ordinary passenger seats have been purchased as of January 4 of the 3.5 million seats we have provided,” said Bobby in a press conference at Pasar Senen Station, Tuesday (23/12).

According to Bobby, of all the tickets sold, the ones with the most purchases or the highest interest were on Christmas Day or December 25 2025, then December 28 2025, and January 1 2026.
In detail, KAI noted that it had sold 2,615,902 tickets as of Tuesday, December 23 2025 at 08.00 WIB.Of this number, long-distance train ticket sales reached 2,285,293 tickets, or 82.8 percent of the capacity of 2,761,048 seats.
Meanwhile, local trains sold 330,609 tickets, equivalent to 44.4 percent of the total 745,056 seats.
KAI Vice President Corporate Communication Anne Purba explained that local train sales figures are still very dynamic and will continue to increase due to the characteristics of order times.
“Most of the local train tickets can only be purchased from 7 days before departure. Therefore, sales will continue to increase closer to the day of travel. All local train tickets can be purchased easily via Access by KAI,” he added.
Anne said, to make it easier to purchase tickets, prospective passengers can do so via Access by KAI.
Through this application, customers can reschedule and cancel tickets independently, as long as the ticket is registered in their personal name or account name listed as one of the passengers in the booking code without needing to come to the station.
“The Access by KAI digital ecosystem allows customers to manage all travel needs in one application, from train tickets, supporting services, to intermodal connectivity. This approach makes it easier for customers to enjoy Nataru travel more comfortably and in a planned manner,” concluded Anne.
