During the aggression, almost all hospitals and health facilities in Gaza were targeted.A total of 125 health facilities were damaged, including 34 hospitals.
“The number of items completely out of stock on the list of essential medicines has reached 321, which represents a shortage of 52 percent,” the Health Ministry said in a statement, as quoted by Al Jazeera.
“The number of out-of-stock items in the medical equipment list has reached 710, representing a shortage of 71 percent. The shortage rate of laboratory tests and blood bank equipment has reached 59 percent,” he added.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, drug shortages are occurring in emergency services, especially intravenous fluids, intravenous antibiotics and painkillers.
The report warned that limited emergency and intensive care services could potentially result in 200,000 patients losing access to emergency care.
As many as 100,000 patients lost access to surgical services, and at least 700 patients lost access to intensive care.
Additionally, shortages were also reported in renal services, oncology, open heart surgery, and orthopedics, among other health sectors.
“Given these worrying figures, and the continued decline in the number of medical trucks allowed into Gaza to less than 30 percent of monthly requirements, as well as the limited supply available, the Ministry of Health urges all parties to assume their responsibility in carrying out immediate emergency interventions,” the statement said.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health has also requested increased supplies of medicines, consumable medical equipment and laboratory supplies.
Even though the United States-backed ceasefire took effect on October 10, Israel continues to violate the agreement with Hamas by not allowing in the agreed number of medical aid trucks.
This condition, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health, deepens a health emergency that is crisis and ongoing.
Amid this medical supply crisis, around 1,500 children are waiting for the borders to open so they can travel outside Gaza to receive treatment.
