Gennaro Gattuso emphasized that he was following in the footsteps of legendary coach Marcelo Lippi when he became the architect of the Italian national team.
Gattuso emphasized that he was very inspired by Lippi as a coach.Gattuso was part of the Italian national team that won the 2026 World Cup and was coached by Lippi at that time.

Gattuso then revealed Lippi’s strengths that made him a top and legendary coach.Apart from being successful as an Italian coach, Lippi was seen as an elite coach when he managed Juventus.
“Be honest and consistent, and there is only one way to go if you want to build a team.”
“Give more confidence to the players when they are struggling and try to help them. Give them a sense of belonging [to the team]. He [Lippi] is an expert in this,” said Gattuso.
Gattuso is trusted to be Italy’s coach in the middle of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications. He now has the task of bringing Italy to qualify for the 2026 World Cup via the playoffs which will take place next March.
Italy had to fight in the playoffs because they were unable to compete with Norway to win the group.
