Four village unit cooperatives (KUD) under the guidance of PT Perkebunan Nusantara or PTPN IV PalmCo were declared to have passed and officially obtained the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) international certification or certificate of sustainable palm oil production.
PTPN IV PalmCo Main Director Jatmiko Santosa said the four KUDs include KUD Makarti Jaya, KUD Dayo Mukti, and KUD Kusuma Bakti Mandiri which are located in the PTPN IV Regional III Riau area, as well as FPS Merlung Renah Mendaluh which is located in PTPN IV Regional IV Jambi.
The total area of certified plantations reaches 2,595.36 hectares and involves around 1,222 families.

“This success is the result of long-term assistance provided by the company to partner farmers in various regions,” said Jatmiko in an official statement.
From the results of the latest audit, KUD Dayo Mukti was listed as the cooperative that most recently passed the RSPO external audit, complementing the three other cooperatives that had previously received certification.
RSPO certification provides direct benefits for farmers because it opens up new economic opportunities, improves plantation management, and increases the selling value of products.
Apart from the four KUDs that have been officially certified, said Jatmiko, there are 18 other KUDs that are currently in the RSPO certification pipeline through PTPN IV PalmCo’s internal acceleration program.
He explained that one KUD is currently undergoing an internal audit, four KUDs are completing the fulfillment of required documents, while 13 other KUDs are at the stage of socializing the implementation of RSPO standards at the farmer level.
Jatmiko emphasized that the certification process is not only oriented towards administrative achievements, but also towards establishing a culture of sustainability at the site level.
By accelerating RSPO certification, he said, PalmCo wants to strengthen supply chain traceability and set higher quality standards for the CPO it produces.
“An RSPO certified supply chain guarantees quality, measurable and traceable products. This is an important foundation for the competitiveness of Indonesian palm oil in the global market,” he said.
He added that this initiative is in line with national efforts to strengthen food and energy security through a more responsible palm oil industry.
The success of obtaining RSPO certification is proof of the effective partnership between farmers and PTPN IV PalmCo, as well as an important step in preparing Indonesian farmers to face the demands of increasingly stringent global standards.
