“There are several things I want to convey regarding Indonesia’s foreign policy under the leadership of President Prabowo. First, his activities are very intense,” said Dino at a press conference discussing the Conference on Indonesian Foreign Policy (CIFP) in South Jakarta, Tuesday (25/11).
According to Dino, these intense activities lead to Prabowo’s active attitude in attending international forums such as ASEAN, APEC and G20 level conferences.
Prabowo was also ready from the start to make various foreign visits, and his steps were very different.
“He moves very actively, you could even call him hyperactive. He visited 25 countries in just one year, something that is very rare,” he said.
Furthermore, Dino said Prabowo wanted to show himself as a president who prioritizes foreign policy and wants to take his place among world leaders.
“He wants to show that he is a president who places foreign policy as a priority and wants to be present as part of the ranks of world leaders,” said Dino.
Apart from that, Dino said Prabowo also developed quite good political and diplomatic capital.This situation was seen when the Indonesian president maintained relations with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Brazilian President Lula da Silva, and French President Emmanuel Macron.
This relationship, he continued, showed that the heads of state trusted Indonesia.
All of this is personal, political and diplomatic capital that can only grow if there is effort.
“Things like that don’t happen instantly. Therefore, in the last year he has built extensive diplomatic networks and capital with major world leaders,” said Dino.
Dino also said that Indonesia has trust in global eyes and is safe in the external situation.
“If you ask different countries, you will get different reasons about why they feel insecure. But many of them feel insecure about their external environment,” he added.
Dino feels quite safe in the external environment, especially under Prabowo’s leadership.
Indonesia, he continued, also feels safe without conflict with any countries or big countries.
“Indonesia is not in conflict with any country, not with any big countries, not with the United States, China, or Russia, or anyone else. We maintain our strategic autonomy,” he said.
