Brazilian police arrested Bolsonaro (70) to prevent him from fleeing, the Globo newspaper reported on Saturday.
The arrest of Bolsonaro, who has been under house arrest since August 4, was carried out in accordance with a court order, according to law enforcement officials.

Police took the action after his son, Flavio Bolsonaro, who is also a right-wing senator, rallied in support of his father.
Meanwhile, G1 media reported that Jair Bolsonaro had violated the terms of use of an electronic bracelet and was considered a flight risk.His house is reportedly near the US Embassy.
In early September 2025, Brazil’s Supreme Court found him guilty of the coup attempt and sentenced him to 27 years and three months in prison.
The verdict marks the first time a former Brazilian president has been convicted of crimes against democracy.
