He explained that the flooding at the weekend was triggered by long-duration, high-intensity rain that flushed the Cirebon Regency area, causing a number of rivers to overflow.

Hadi detailed that the total number of residents affected by the flood reached 6,530 people from 1,843 heads of families (KK), with the number of temporary evacuees recorded at 15 people.
“Flooding occurred in 22 villages and sub-districts spread across 10 sub-districts in Cirebon Regency,” he said.
According to him, the water level in the flood-affected areas varied, from 10 cm to 100 cm, which resulted in roads and residents’ houses being submerged.
Hadi said that the area with a large number of residents affected by flooding was Junjang Wetan Village, Arjawinangun District, with more than 4,000 people.
Apart from that, he said, the Cirebon Regency BPBD also recorded the impact of this incident on infrastructure and public facilities, with a total of 1,306 units flooded.
“Several public facilities such as schools, places of worship and businesses were also submerged, and there was damage to the river embankment in Kebarepan Village,” he said.
Hadi said that to date, there have been no reports of injuries or deaths due to the flood.
“Our current focus is on evacuating affected residents and fulfilling basic needs,” he said.
Apart from that, he revealed that the urgent needs that are still needed now include clean water, sanitation, ready-to-eat food, as well as cleaning up post-flood mud and rubbish.
As of Sunday afternoon, he continued, weather conditions in the Cirebon Regency area were monitored for light rain, but several flood spots were reported to have not completely receded.
“We urge the public, especially those living in flood-prone areas, to continue to increase their awareness of the potential for subsequent floods,” he said.
