Floods hit hundreds of houses
in a number of areas in Karawang Regency, West Java following high rainfall in the area.
“Around Karangligar Village, West Telukjambe District, floods submerged residential areas, rice fields and roads,” said Karawang Kaming Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) officer in Karawang, Saturday (6/12).

Based on data from BPBD Karawang, the floods that occurred in the last few days in Karangligar Village, West Telukjambe District submerged 316 houses inhabited by 1,224 people or 413 families.The water height varies, from 20 centimeters to 1 meter.
According to BPBD Karawang information, flooding in Karangligar Village occurred due to high rainfall which triggered the overflow of two large rivers, namely the Citarum and Cibeet Rivers.
Joint officers from BPBD, Tagana, TNI and Polri continue to evacuate residents affected by the flood.Residents were evacuated to safer places.
“The water level of the Cibeet and Citarum Rivers tends to increase. So residents affected by the flood are evacuated to safer places,” he said.
Evacuation locations include the Karangligar Village Office yard.Karawang BPBD officers set up refugee tents in the area.
“Emergency response efforts are still being carried out by officers in the field while monitoring developments in water conditions,” he said.
Rob also hit a number of areas on the north coast of Karawang.
Rob is due to rising sea levels in the northern coastal area of Karawang, which has inundated residential areas for the past few days.
