Flood
submerging a number of areas in Pidie Jaya Regency,
Aceh
due to heavy rain since this afternoon.Residential areas began to be flooded.
Even the national highway in the area was flooded by almost 1 meter.At a number of points the water level has reached 2 meters.
Head of BPBD Pidie Jaya Regency, Muhammad Nur, said that the high intensity of rain caused the Krueng Meureudu, Beuracan and Ulim Rivers to overflow, submerging residents’ houses again.

“Heavy rain since this afternoon affected the Krueng Meureudu, Beuracan and Ulim rivers. The water level varied by up to 2 meters,” said Muhammad Nur when confirmed, Wednesday (24/12) evening.
From his monitoring, currently the flood has evenly inundated all sub-districts in Pidie Jaya, including refugee locations which are also starting to be inundated.Currently the refugees are getting ready to be evacuated back to a safe place.
“Several points (refugee locations have been submerged),” he said.
He appealed to residents to be prepared to go to evacuation centers if the water rises again tonight.
“We urge residents that if the floodwaters rise too fast, please evacuate immediately,” he said
