Indonesian senior men’s doubles,
Fajar Alfian/Muhammad Shohibul Fikri
, gave praise to the young pair Raymond Indra/Nikolaus Joaquin who won the 2025 Australian Open, Sunday (23/11).
In the final duel at the State Sports Center, Raymond/Nikolaus won a fierce battle over Fajar/Fikri in three games, 22-20, 10-21, 21-18.
Winning the 2025 Australian Open is an extraordinary achievement for Raymond/Nikolaus.The reason is, the Australian Open is the debut for this pair in the Super 500 class.

Fajar did not hide his disappointment at failing to win the 2025 Australian Open and having to return as runner up.Even so, Fajar and Fikri agreed to give praise to Raymond/Nikolaus.
“The results were not as expected, we were runners up again. We are definitely disappointed but we still have to be grateful, especially seeing the performance of our juniors Raymond/Joaquin in this tournament,” said Fajar.
“Not only did we beat us, but from the first round we managed to beat the top pair, which was extraordinary.”
Fajar appreciated Raymond/Nikolaus’ performance which had improved since the beginning of the year.Before playing in the Super 500 class, Raymond/Nikolaus had the opportunity to experience the challenge level and Super 100 to 300 classes.
“Their development is very rapid, at the beginning of this year they were still playing on the National Circuit then rose to become International Challenge champions, Super 100 champions then runners up at the Korea Masters and now Super 500 champions. Hopefully in the future they will continue to be united and consistent,” said Fajar.
In line with Fajar, Fikri also hopes that Raymond/Nikolaus will not be quickly satisfied with their current achievements.
“We are proud of our juniors, seeing a game like this is a hope for the future of Indonesian men’s doubles. Hopefully they will get better, achieve more, don’t be complacent because there is still a lot waiting ahead,” said Fikri.
