Syuriyah Plenary Meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (

) at the Sultan Hotel Jakarta, Tuesday (9/12), determined

as Acting (Pj) General Chair of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board.
Zulfa will temporarily replace Yahya Cholil Staquf alias Gus Yahya who was dismissed on November 20 by the PBNU Syuriyah.
“The appointment of the Acting General Chair of PBNU for the remaining term of office, namely Mr. KH Zulfa Mustofa,” said Rais Syuriah Muhammad Nuh in a press conference after the plenary meeting.

The Syuriyah Plenary Meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board at the Sultan Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday evening took place behind closed doors.
The meeting opened with a joint prayer and the handover of donations amounting to IDR 2 billion for disaster victims in Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.The meeting activities were opened by Rais Aam PBNU Miftachul Akhyar.Then, the meeting was chaired by Rais Syuriah PBNU Mohammad Nuh.
In his opening remarks, Miftahul Akhyar said that Syuriyah was the owner of NU.So the plenary meeting also strengthened the supremacy of Syuriyah.
“As we initially said, Syuriah is the owner of NU. And this period is a joint determination to strengthen the supremacy of Syuriah,” he said.
“So, this is an opportunity to truly maintain the supremacy of Syria and continue to grow stronger,” he continued.

Minister of Religion Nasaruddin Umar and Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf or Gus Ipul were seen attending the plenary meeting
The meeting was also attended by the Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) Executive Board Khofifah Indar Parawansa, Mustasyar administrator Habib Luthfi bin Yahya, as well as hundreds of other PBNU administrators from the ranks of Rais Aam, Katib, Mustasyar, A’wan, to Tanfidziyah.

The leader of the Rais Syuriah plenary meeting, Muhammad Nuh, said that Zulfa would lead PBNU until the congress was held.
“He will lead as acting general chairman, carrying out his duties until the congress,” said Nuh in a press conference after the plenary meeting.
Nuh said Zulfa was given the task of immediately preparing for the congress.He said that this congress was not accelerated, but returned to the original cycle because the 2021 Congress was postponed one year due to Covid-19.
“The current congress is not being accelerated, but is being returned to the original cycle,” he said.
Zulfa’s duties
A number of tasks have been given to Zulfa during his leadership period up to the Congress.Namely holding national deliberations until the centenary of the existence of Nahdlatul Ulama.
“There are several tasks, namely commemorating the centenary of AD [Nahdlatul Ulama] which will fall in January 2026. And there is a National Conference, and the culmination is at the congress,” said Muhammad Nuh at a press conference after the plenary meeting.
Zulfa herself, in her statement, said that the task she was carrying out was very difficult.However, he remained determined that he wanted to be a solution to resolve the conflict for the future of NU.
“I said before my colleagues [journalists] came in, that my task is very difficult. Firstly, normalizing the wheels of the organization and then of course delivering the congress which begins with the implementation of the Konbes [big conference],” said Zulfa.
“I also said that I don’t want to be a conflict of the past. I want to be Jamiyah’s solution for the future,” continued Zulfa.
Furthermore, Zulfa hopes that his appointment as Acting Ketum can resolve the uncertainty that is causing sadness for NU members.
“Because NU residents have been saddened by this uncertainty for a long time. I hope that with my appointment at this plenary as Acting General Chair this uncertainty will be resolved,” he said.
Ma’ruf Amin’s nephew
Zulfa was born on 7 August 1977 in Jakarta.He is the nephew of Mustasyar PBNU and former 13th Vice President (Wapres) of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin.
His father is KH.Muqarrabin, comes from Pekalongan, while his mother, Nyai Haji Marhumah Latifah, comes from Kresek, a sub-district in Tangerang Regency.
Zulfa’s mother was the daughter of Nyai Hajjah Maimunah who was also the mother of KH.Ma’ruf Amin.Zulfa is the granddaughter of Sheikh Nawawi al-Bantani.
