recently shocked by the discovery of the first stone
emerald
weighing 300 kg at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (19/11) evening local time.
The large, dark stone with sparkling green crystal lines is displayed at the Ambohitsorohitra State Palace in the capital Antananarivo.
Although further examination by experts needs to be carried out regarding the size and quality of the emeralds inside, this stone has interesting facts.

Interim President of Madagascar.Colonel Michael Randrianirina, said the discovery was the first emerald stone weighing 300 kg (66 lb) in the Presidential Palace.
However, he did not explain the chronology of the stone’s discovery, and said “we don’t know why this stone is here.”
A collector’s favorite stone
Madagascar Mining Minister Carl Andriamparany said emeralds were a favorite of collectors.
The stone is dark in color with sparkling green crystal lines and is extremely rare due to its natural matrix.
National asset
According to Randrianirina the stone found in the Presidential Palace is a national treasure.
“This stone will be removed and the minister will later explain procedures to increase state revenues,” he said.
The government later said the income from sales would be transferred to the state treasury.
Price per carat on the market
The price of emeralds per carat on the market will be adjusted to the type and quality of the stone class.
Low quality emeralds are estimated to be worth IDR 3.1 million per stone.Meanwhile, high quality stones range from IDR 141.5 million per stone.
