SMA 72 Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, became a matter of public discussion after an explosion occurred on Friday (7/11) at this educational facility.Police said the alleged perpetrator was a student from the school.
As a result of this incident, 96 people, including the alleged perpetrator, were injured.A day after the incident, 29 victims were still being treated in hospital and 67 others had returned home.

Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya, Kombes Pol Budi Hermanto, said that the injuries suffered by the alleged perpetrator were quite serious, especially on the head and required surgery. Budi also said that the alleged perpetrator and all the victims were under strict guard while in hospital to ensure that the treatment was safe and to anticipate anything untoward.

Budi also explained that the alleged perpetrator of the explosion was conscious after undergoing surgery on Friday.
“[He] is already conscious. But, you have to take it slowly, because the injuries are still serious. So, we must both pay attention to the physical and medical recovery first, including the psychology of the person concerned,” said Budi at a press conference in Jakarta on Saturday (8/11).

On this occasion, Budi said that investigators and the hospital were keeping the identity of the alleged perpetrator of the explosion a secret.They coordinate closely with child protection agencies to ensure the handling process complies with legal procedures for minors.
“You need to convey this to all your colleagues, to work together to safeguard the special rights that must be fulfilled, namely identity protection and special treatment for children in conflict with the law,” said Budi.
The alleged perpetrator’s house was searched
Budi also said that officers had searched the alleged perpetrator’s house after investigating the crime scene (TKP) and collecting a series of pieces of evidence.
Furthermore, Budi said the team had confiscated a number of items at the alleged perpetrator’s house.However, he has not yet revealed the items in question because he is still investigating. The collected evidence will later be compared with the evidence at the scene.
“Taking several matches of the evidence found, including matches with those in the house, it turns out that some of the powder tools are compatible,” said Budi.
Suspected of being influenced by social media
Chair of the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) Margaret Aliyatul Maimunah suspects that the alleged perpetrator of the SMA 72 Kelapa Gading explosion was influenced by social media content.
“Because from the results of monitoring, it turns out there are allegations that there is influence from content on social media,” said Margaret in Jakarta on Saturday.
He then highlighted the supervision of children regarding activities on social media and underlined how important the role of parents is in the growth and development, including the content consumed, of their children.
The alleged perpetrator reportedly experienced bullying at school.This condition is thought to be the motive for him carrying out his actions.However, Budi emphasized that the public does not need to speculate anything until the results of the investigation are announced.
