“Around IKN, there are also reports from IKN deputies that there are new openings, that is also a response,” he said when met at the DPR, Tuesday (11/11) as quoted
Detikfinance.
Based on this report, the Directorate General of Gakkum sent a team to the location to check the truth and follow up on the findings.
Apart from IKN, the Directorate General of Gakkum also found many findings related to the activation of illegal coal mines in East Kalimantan with a volume of around 6,000 tons of coal.
Rilke said that his party had also sent a team to the field to accompany and carry out supervision together with the Forest Damage Management and Prevention Task Force (PKH Task Force).
“There’s a lot of coal. The last time I was in East Kalimantan, there was around 6,000 tonnes, we’re coordinating that. We’ve prepared a team to go there to accompany the PKH Task Force, to see the possibilities regarding enforcement,” he said.
The IKN Authority (OIKN) previously mentioned the existence of illegal mining covering an area of 4,000 hectares in the IKN delineation area.
Head of OIKN Basuki Hadimuljono said that the existence of illegal mining was the discovery of the Illegal Activity Prevention Task Force. The Task Force reported that unlicensed mining causes environmental damage, as well as significant economic and social losses.
“We have put up prohibitory signs so that no party can carry out mining activities in protected forest areas. All illegal activities will be dealt with firmly and mining entrepreneurs are obliged to carry out reforestation in their former mining areas,” said Basuki Hadimuljono, Thursday (16/10).
OIKN also installed the sign at a former illegal mine in the Bukit Tengkorak area, Bukit Soeharto Grand Forest Park, Kutai Kartanegara Regency.
This step was not only carried out by the IKN Authority. They received support from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Kodam VI/Mulawarman, East Kalimantan Regional Police, East Kalimantan High Prosecutor’s Office, and East Kalimantan Regional BIN.
“Of course we always support government programs, it’s a pity that we can use our enormous natural wealth for the benefit of the community. Please let the public learn how to take care of the administration so that their business can be legally registered,” said the Director of Criminal Enforcement at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ma’mun.
Last July, Bareskrim Polri also uncovered illegal coal mines in IKN and the Bukit Soeharto Grand Forest Park conservation area.
The Director of Criminal Investigation at the National Police, Brigadier General Nunung Syaifuddin, said that three people were suspected of illegal mining. The state is estimated to have lost IDR 5.7 trillion due to illegal mining practices around IKN.
“This step was taken in order to protect natural resources as state wealth assets. The IKN area is a treasure of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia so that all forms of illegal mining activities at IKN locations must be regulated and dealt with firmly because they are of public concern,” said Nunung, in Surabaya, Thursday (17/7).
