“With more even distribution and support from a capable information system, waiting times can be reduced and workload more measurable,” said Head of the DKI Jakarta Environmental Service, Asep Kuswanto, Tuesday (9/12) as quoted from

.
According to him, improving the system can reduce waiting time in the field, thereby creating a more stable waste flow and more humane working conditions.
“The longer the truck waits, the higher the safety risk due to driver fatigue. Therefore, safety aspects must be the main basis in every operational policy,” said Asep.
Furthermore, he said that his party was also carrying out a comprehensive internal evaluation, including the queue of trucks at the Bantar Gebang TPST which increased the risk of driver fatigue.
Previously, it was known that a garbage truck driver died while queuing to throw away rubbish at the Bantar Gebang TPST.He was known to be exhausted after queuing for too long to unload the cargo.Currently, the rights and compensation for the driver’s family are still being processed.
Asep said that this incident was a reminder to tighten work safety standards, as well as momentum to strengthen the waste management system as a whole, starting from setting up waste points to improving supporting facilities in the field.
He added that all DLH DKI Jakarta field officers have also been facilitated by BPJS Health.
Apart from that, Asep said that DLH DKI field officers were also asked to regularly carry out free health checks at health facilities.
