, Mirwan MS claims to accept with grace the decision of sanctions from the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) who placed him on inactive status for three months after ‘escaping’ Umrah when his people were surrounded by disaster
flood
and landslides.
Mirwan said this decision was an important lesson for him to increase professionalism and strengthen the quality of public services in the future.
“We hope that conditions will soon return to being conducive so that services to the community, disaster management and regional development agendas can continue without obstacles,” said Mirwan in his statement, Tuesday (9/12) evening.

Mirwan also apologized to the Indonesian people, especially the people of Aceh and South Aceh, for the commotion that has occurred in recent times.
He invited the entire community, religious leaders and youth to maintain a peaceful atmosphere and together support the acceleration of disaster management in South Aceh and other Aceh regions.
“This invitation is in line with President Prabowo Subianto’s direction, which emphasizes the importance of placing regional interests above all else,” he said.
Previously, the Ministry of Home Affairs imposed a temporary dismissal sanction for the Regent of South Aceh, Mirwan MS, after going on Umrah amidst flood and landslide conditions affecting his area.
“There are two decrees that I have signed relating to the Regent of South Aceh, namely the first decree regarding the temporary dismissal of Mirwan MS for 3 months,” said Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian at a press conference, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/12).
Tito said Mirwan violated Article 76 paragraph 1 of Law 23/2014 concerning Regional Government.
“Traveling abroad without permission from the Ministry of Home Affairs. It is specifically regulated in Article 77 that the sanction is temporary dismissal for three months, if the person concerned goes abroad to perform Umrah on December 2,” he said.
Mirwan was in the spotlight because he went on Umrah in the midst of a disaster in his area.Mirwan’s behavior also cannot be separated from the attention of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto.Prabowo had asked the Minister of Home Affairs Tito to remove Mirwan who was considered to be running from disaster problems.
