As captain of the Malaysian national team, Cools, understands the case involving seven naturalized players.However, he emphasized that the players’ mentality was not disturbed ahead of the match against Nepal.
“I think of course all the players know about this problem, but we don’t discuss it. As we said, we are here to do our job,” said Cools, quoted by Bharian, Thursday (13/11).

“We are here to train and we are happy together because we like the atmosphere in this team. We also spend time together, the atmosphere is good, training is going well, and I think everyone has the same mentality which is to win the next game,” added Cools.
The Cerezo Osaka defender ensured that the Harimau Malaya squad’s mission to qualify for the 2027 Asian Cup would not be disturbed by FIFA sanctions.
The problems involving Gabriel Palmero, Facundo Garcas, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, Joao Figueiredo, Jon Irazabal, and Hector Hevel are still not resolved.
On November 3, FIFA announced the rejection of the appeal of FAM and seven naturalized Malaysian players who were deemed to be involved in falsifying origin documents.
This decision means that the 12 month suspensions and fines imposed by FIFA on the seven players remain in effect.FAM is also not free from fines.
Malaysia will face Nepal on the fifth matchday of Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup Qualification on November 18.
Malaysia currently leads the top of Group F with a collection of 12 points from four matches.Meanwhile, Nepal is at the bottom of the standings with no points scored.
