In their action, this couple claimed to be members of the police.The relationship between the perpetrator and the victim had actually known each other since last October.

The acquaintance began with the perpetrator ordering the victim’s online transportation service.
“Communication continued after the two exchanged personal telephone numbers. At that meeting, the perpetrator also admitted to being a member of the police,” said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Budi Hermanto in his statement, Sunday (16/11).
The perpetrator then launched his action on November 2.At that time, the perpetrator ordered services offline (outside the application) for the victim.
The male perpetrator asked the victim to take him to the hospital on the grounds that his wife was bleeding.
Without suspecting anything, the victim complied and picked up the couple at their house and took them to the hospital.
However, on the way, the perpetrator asked the victim to stop at the Cibubur Rest Area.There, perpetrator AS got out of the car on the pretext of wanting to meet a client, so the victim and perpetrator YW waited in the car.
“Not long after, perpetrator AS called perpetrator YW, (then) asked the victim to deliver a folder or document to the place where he was meeting his client,” said Budi.
“When the victim complied, the perpetrator then took advantage of this opportunity, where the victim left the car with the engine running or the keys still hanging, which the perpetrator easily took away,” he continued.
After an investigation, the police succeeded in arresting the couple at a house in the Cilodong area, Depok City on November 13.The perpetrator and the evidence were then taken to Polda Metro Jaya for further examination.
For their actions, the couple was charged under Article 363 of the Criminal Code concerning aggravated theft which carries a penalty of nine years in prison.
