Indonesia has agreed on the strategic train service ‘Kilat Pajajaran’ which targets cutting the travel time on the Gambir-Bandung Station route to only 1.5 hours, as a solution to accelerate the mobility of citizens on conventional routes.
This express train will be the fastest Jakarta-Bandung train after Whoosh which travels in around 46 minutes.Meanwhile, the travel time for regular trains from Jakarta to Bandung currently varies, around 2.5 to 3 hours, depending on the type of train.
West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi said this agreement was contained in cooperation on railway optimization which also included the provision of special agricultural logistics carriages to reduce food distribution costs.

“The Pajajaran Express Train will cut the relatively fast travel time, Gambir-Bandung, to around one and a half hours. In fact, this service is planned to connect to Garut, Tasikmalaya and Banjar with a travel time of around two hours via Bandung,” said Dedi in a statement in Bandung, Wednesday (26/11).
Apart from cutting travel time for passengers via the Pajajaran train, Dedi emphasized that the crucial point in this collaboration was the launch of the “Tani Mukti Train”.
This service is specifically for transporting agricultural and trade products from production center areas in West Java to main markets in Jakarta, Cirebon and Banjar. This step is considered strategic to cut the supply chain which has been hampered by high land logistics costs.
“We call the provision of locomotives and carriages to transport agricultural and trade products on the Jakarta-Cirebon and Jakarta-Banjar routes the Tani Mukti Railway,” he said.
In the cooperation roadmap, the West Java Provincial Government and KAI will also activate the “Jaka Lalana” tourist route which crosses the Jakarta-Bogor-Sukabumi-Cianjur route, as well as accelerate the electrification of the Padalarang-Cicalengka route to support the daily mobility of Greater Bandung urbanites.
PT KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin reportedly welcomed the initiative with the West Java Provincial Government and was committed to following up with the formation of a Joint Working Group to prepare a technical study and gradual work plan, including the arrangement of the Bandung and Kiaracondong Station areas.
Dedi also hopes that financing support can be realized soon considering the large economic impact of the integration of the rail network in the northern and southern regions of West Java.
“Today the West Java Provincial Government together with all regents and mayors are committed to developing railways. Hopefully the journey from West Java to Jakarta will be smoother,” said Dedi.
This collaboration on the arrangement of the West Java railway was signed by Dedi Mulyadi and the Main Director of PT KAI Bobby Rasyidin, witnessed by the Deputy Minister of Transportation Suntana in Purwakarta, Tuesday (25/11).
