“We would like to convey that Daniel and Ester’s condition has now recovered from the injuries they suffered,” said Retno in a PBSI release, Monday (22/12).

Meanwhile, Ester suffered a fracture at the base of her right shin (shin bone fracture) while training at National Training Center in September 2025.
“Currently both of them are going through all stages of recovery by following the instructions of the team of doctors in a disciplined manner,” said Retno.
Retno said that the injury recovery process was carried out in stages to ensure that both of their physical foundations were truly stable again.
“PBSI together with the medical team did not take hasty steps to reduce them to competition because the safety and future career of athlete applicants is the main priority,” said Retno.
Apart from that, Retno also expressed the importance of assistance for injured athletes to eliminate trauma.
“We also pay serious attention to mental readiness. Post-injury often leaves its own stress and trauma for the athletes who experience it, so psychological assistance and mental conditioning really need to be carried out in a structured manner so that they can regain confidence when they return to training or competing,” said Retno.
However, regarding when Daniel and Ester will be able to compete again, Retno admitted that she would leave the decision up to the coach.
“Currently, both of them are in the phase of reintegration onto the field. The next stage is a comprehensive evaluation from the coaching team to see whether Daniel and Ester’s playing progress is in accordance with the targeted indicators. The decision regarding when they can return to appearing in official matches will be completely determined based on the coach’s objective assessment, in order to ensure that both of them are truly ready physically, technically and mentally,” said Retno.
