According to him, this step is a policy that has undergone government review so that business actors and investors do not need to worry about it.
“I think the government has certainly thought about it, so it’s best to ask the Minister of Finance. Of course there has been an in-depth study, there’s no need to worry. Everything the government does will definitely be the best, it’s impossible to do something that is not best for the community,” said Dony at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (11/11).

He added that Danantara has no concerns about the impact of this policy on ongoing investment.
According to him, every government decision is believed to have gone through a careful consideration process.
“Oh, I’m not (worried) at all, not at all because for us whatever the government does is definitely something good and has been thought about. So it’s impossible to take a policy without really thinking about it, so everything must have been thought out well,” he said.
The rupiah redenomination plan was revealed by Purbaya through Minister of Finance Regulation (PMK) Number 70 of 2025 concerning the Strategic Plan of the Ministry of Finance 2025-2029.
In this regulation, the Draft Law (RUU) concerning Changes in the Rupiah Price or the Redenomination Bill is targeted for completion in 2027.
The Ministry of Finance explains that redenomination is a simplification of the currency value from IDR 1,000 to IDR 1 without reducing people’s purchasing power.
The aim is to increase economic efficiency, maintain the stability of the rupiah value, and strengthen the credibility of the national financial system.
This policy assigns the Directorate General of Treasury (DJPb) as the main implementer.
Meanwhile, Bank Indonesia (BI) called redenomination a strategic step to strengthen transaction efficiency and support the modernization of the national payment system.
“The redenomination process was carefully planned and involved close coordination with all stakeholders,” said Head of the BI Communications Department Ramdan Denny Prakoso in a written statement, Monday (10/11).
This policy is included in the 2025-2029 Medium Term National Legislation Program (Prolegnas) as a government initiative bill as proposed by Bank Indonesia.
