“Danantara, of course, as a corporation will review it well and will implement this in accordance with good corporate conditions,” said Dony at the Coordinating Ministry for Food, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (11/11).
He emphasized that the main focus of this project is to support food security and protein self-sufficiency, especially for MBG needs.
The government will ensure that chicken farming runs in an integrated manner.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Agriculture and Head of Bapanas Andi Amran Sulaiman explained that State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) would manage all important stages of chicken production, starting from the main broodstock (
grandparent
), local broodstock (
parents
), until the chickens are ready to be raised (
final stock
).
Apart from that, BUMN will also handle feed and vaccine factories.Meanwhile, small farmers will buy chicks and feed from BUMN at reasonable prices, so that prices remain stable and small farmers do not suffer losses.
“This is this ecosystem, later BUMN will move upstream. Then all those downstream are small farmers. This guarantees stable feed for small farmers, also guarantees DOC (chicken seeds/
day old chick
) is stable,” said Amran.
“We will make it possible for all of Indonesia to supply MBG. Don’t let there be a shortage of eggs and chickens in the future. So we will prepare from now on,” he added.
The project is scheduled to start in early 2026 after the feasibility study is completed.Development locations will be prioritized in areas where there is still a shortage of chicken and egg supplies.
Amran added that the BUMN involved will manage the feed factory and DOC, as well as act as a price stabilizer so that small farmers can still make a profit even though market prices fluctuate.
“Small breeders buy at reasonable prices and also become off-takers. God willing, in the future prices will be stable, breeders will never lose,” he said.
This project is part of the national food and agricultural sector downstream strategy, with total investment in the agricultural sector projected to reach IDR 371 trillion.
Apart from maintaining the supply of chickens and eggs for MBG, this project is expected to promote village economic equality, open new job opportunities, and stabilize chicken prices which have recently increased in several areas.
Based on Bapanas’ calculations, the construction of this chicken farm will add 700 thousand tons of eggs and 1.1 million tons of broiler chickens per year, while strengthening national food independence.
